WINTER CART POLICY
Posted on: 5 May
Dear Members,
This communication is to provide notice of advice that we will be re-instating the winter cart policy from the 1st June. Whilst we appreciate that this is not a popular decision, it is for the benefit of playing conditions.
To assist with the preparation and presentation of the golf course particularly during the months where growth is reduced, the Club will again operate with a maximum of 2 carts per group.
This policy will be active for the period 1st June – 31st August. *Medical Exemptions do not apply.
Tips on how to share a golf cart and keep pace!
The no. 1 reason for player-induced slow play is inefficient golf cart management.
- The relationship you have with your golf cart mate should resemble a game of leap frog — not a three-legged sack race.
- Drop your partner off at their ball and go to yours (and when they hit they can walk back to the cart). If being dropped off, always take a few different clubs to your ball. If you and your cart mate’s balls are relatively close to each other, park in between them and you can get ready to hit at the same time.
- Bring putters or other wedges to the green for one another if necessary.
- Use the time you spend getting to your ball to think about the next shot – the yardage, the club selection. When you reach your ball you’ll need less time to figure out the shot.
- Never delay making a stroke because you’re having a conversation with a playing partner. Put the conversation on hold, make your stroke, then pick up the conversation again.
- When leaving the green and returning to your golf cart, don’t stand there fussing with your putter or other clubs. Get in the cart, drive to the next tee, and then put away your putter.
- Likewise, mark your scorecard after reaching the next tee, not while lingering on or near the just-completed green.
- When using a cart, never park the cart in front of the green. Park it only to the side or behind the green. And don’t mark your scorecard while sitting in the cart next to the green (do it at the next tee). These practices open up the green for the group behind.
- When waiting on the tee for the group in front to clear the fairway, don’t be so strict about order of play. Let the short hitter – who can’t reach the group ahead anyway – go ahead and hit.
