2023 Open Pennant – UPDATE
Posted on: 27 March
The final match was played on Sunday against Southport, the home course advantage did not give us the result we were looking for. A 5 to 2 loss but, nether the less, there were still some very close and exciting matches. Coops was 2 down after 13 and came home strong to get a square against a current senior state player. Big Sam found some form and played strongly to also finish square. Mark Burrell was far too strong with another great win at 1. Alex, Matt, Jayden, and Yutaro, could not get into the rhythm and ran out of holes.
A special thanks to all our caddies, supporters and club members that came out during the season, especially Chris and Pauline Potter who always attend every match. Michael Gordon and May were there yesterday on the 1st, cheering the boys on as they teed off.
To my team, thanks for your dedication and resilience through the series, we knew it was going to be tough but we kept turning up, playing hard and supporting each other.
One last thanks to David and his team at Hope Island for their continued support of district pennants. The course was set up very well and the whole day was very well organized from start to finish. In a time of change and direction for both club and district golf managing Honor Board events, District Events, Junior Golf, Members rights and access as well as balancing the books is certainly a challenge.
