Dear members – it is a timely reminder to refresh procedures should you encounter any ‘reptiles’ on course. Over the last week, we had a small snake in close proximity to the clubhouse. Below is information for both the management of snakes and fire incidence. <\/h2>\n

Bush Fires & Snakes<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n

We are experiencing sightings of snakes with the warmer weather, recent rains and breeding season seeing snakes more active. We encourage all members to read the information below for the safety of yourselves and that of your fellow members. Our staff are Senior First Aid trained and have procedures in place in the event of an incident. It is important to call for assistance immediately. 07 5530 9033 to the Golf Shop. <\/p>\n

Sighting of a Snake<\/u><\/p>\n

It is important you don’t panic if you see a snake because on most occasions the snake is trying to get out of the way as quickly as possible. Snakes are actually shy creatures and quickly move away at the first signs of noise and disturbance. Most snake bites occur when people try to pick up or kill a snake, so the best thing people can do is be aware of their presence and simply move away if you see one.<\/p>\n

First Aid Procedure for Snake Bites<\/u><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Immediately apply a broad firm bandage around the limb and on bitten area.<\/li>\n
  2. Keep the limb and the victim as still as possible. Wrap the limb with a compression bandage from the end of the limb to well above the bite site.<\/li>\n
  3. Bring transport to the victim if possible.<\/li>\n
  4. Leave the bandage & splint on until medical attention is reached.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Safety Wardens<\/u><\/p>\n

    All senior management employees are Safety Wardens. Responsibilities are to ensure the safety of all employees and guests. Responsibilities include contacting Emergency Services and taking charge of the Evacuation Procedure.<\/p>\n

     <\/u>Procedure<\/u><\/p>\n

    The minimisation of the risk of, and damage from, uncontrolled bush fires is an intrinsic part of golf course management.<\/p>\n

    In the event of an uncontrolled bushfire the local fire authority is the primary response agency to which we will provide assistance within our capacity. We do not maintain a bush firefighting capacity other than first response. Therefore, in the event of a fire it is important this procedure is followed to manage from bush fire so as to protect human life, property and environmental assets.<\/p>\n

    In the event of a bushfire, the following procedure is to be adopted:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. General Manager, Operations Manager and Superintendent to be notified immediately.<\/li>\n
    2. Notify Emergency Services by phoning 000<\/li>\n
    3. All patrons, golfers on course, employees and members advised to assemble in the Evacuation Assembly areas and follow the Site Evacuation Procedure. (refer to the evacuation procedure).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
