Links Golf & Wellbeing would like to acknowledge and congratulate Melanie Whiteley on her outstanding win in the recent Gold Coast Ladies District Division 1 Veterans Championship staged at Burleigh Golf Club.  Melanie played some wonderful golf to upstage the finest players the Gold Coast has to offer. 

Being a Gold Coast District Champion has a wonderful ring to it, congratulations on the accomplishment Melanie, it is well deserved!

Links Senior Pennant Team Storm into Semifinals 

A narrow loss to Burleigh hasn’t stopped Links Golf & Wellbeing getting into the semifinals of the GCDGA pennant series. Southport was in great condition and was a tough test for our team. Mark Quinn continued his winning streak, and Jamie Turner was very unlucky losing the last to finish 1 down. Michael Hoffmeier came up against one of the best QLD senior golfers there is, ex pro Chris Jones and pushed him all the way. Brendo, Shippo and Jay Carter were narrowly beaten.

We have a couple of weeks off due to the Gold Coast Senior International at Sanctuary Cove and the QLD Senior Championships at Hervey Bay, but I’m confident we will turn up to play when the time comes.

Free Members Rules Session

Join us and be entertained, educated and empowered with the Rules of Golf.  Our Presenter is Stuart McPhee, a Tour Referee, R&A Level 3 and USGA Certified Rules Expert, who was accredited in 2023 with Expert Certification by the USGA. 

Learning objectives include -

• the 5 most commonly broken rules
• the 10 greatest Rules myths
• the 5 most common Rules golfers need to know
• how to take relief correctly
• the most important Rules definitions and many more

When: Wednesday 30th July 

Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00pm at Links

Finger food will be served from 6:00 pm at the conclusion of the Rules Session, Bar will remain open, and the Club will close at approximately 6:45 pm.

Driving Range 

With this Saturday being the first round of the Links Handiskins Member event the driving range will be open on a complimentary basis from 2:00 pm this Friday for all golf members who enjoy 7-Day playing rights.  Handiskins is great opportunity for members to play for some serious prizes, so we want you in good form come Saturday.

The driving range will also be open on a complimentary basis for all golf members on Wednesday 16th July due to the staging of the BMW Golf Day.

Super Senior Pennant Call Up

Invitations are now open for all interested Super Senior players, 60 years and over, to nominate for the upcoming Super Senior Pennant competition. With 12 teams from the Gold Coast competing in two groups of six, it should be a great series.

Five matches are played on consecutive Mondays beginning Monday 18th August, finishing Monday 15th September. Semifinals (22nd September) and the final (29th September) will follow the round robin series. 

A team of 8 players compete in Matchplay off the GA Handicap, 4 playing singles and 4 playing 4BBB. The maximum number of shots you give/receive is capped at 9, this means we are looking for a wide range of handicap golfers including the 'low markers'.

Players who are over 60 and have played in this years' Senior Pennant series are also eligible to play in the Super Seniors.

We need a squad of about 15 players. If you would like to register, please leave your name, phone number, shirt size and GA handicap with the Golf Shop by Monday 28th July at the latest.

Taking Care of the Course - Reminder

A friendly reminder to all members to please repair your pitch marks on the greens and rake bunkers properly after use.

Unrepaired pitch marks can damage the turf, create uneven putting surfaces, and take weeks to heal. A quick repair helps keep the greens smooth and fair for everyone.

Likewise, neatly raking bunkers after play ensures other golfers aren’t left with poor lies or footprints to deal with. For instructions on how to do this, Links Golf & Wellbeing Course Superintendent, Glen Beauclerc has put together a quick "how to guide" on efficiently and correctly raking a bunker. 

These simple actions go a long way in keeping our course in top condition. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our club in the best condition for everyone. 

The Team Behind Links 

Alyssa has been bringing her bright energy and multitasking magic to the Food, Beverage and Events team at Links for the past nine months. Drawn to the unique vibe of working at a golf club, she was looking for something different from the cafés and bars she’d worked in before, and she’s found it here!

No two shifts are the same for Alyssa, and that’s exactly what she loves about her role. In one day she might be making coffees, setting up for an event, chatting with members, and then helping serve 70 guests at a wedding and she does it all with a smile.

Outside of work, Alyssa enjoys a mix of movement and downtime, starting the day with a walk or Pilates session, then diving into study, Animal Crossing or a good book. She’s passionate about psychology, has dreams of travelling through Europe, and if she could have any superpower, she'd choose to fly.

Her go-to from SOL? A refreshing iced vanilla matcha. And if you catch her stretching, you might notice a fun fact - she’s got super bendy fingers and ankles!

From Hollywood acting dreams as a kid to juggling events at Links, Alyssa brings creativity and a sense of fun to every shift.
