From the Course....

It’s been a case of rinse and repeat this week as far as prioritized jobs go. We are desperately trying to get the second application of MSMA out on the fairways and green surrounds but unfortunately, it’s been a battle with scorching hot days, windy days or corporate golf days. Hopefully we might secure a gap on Thursday and Friday. We have just about completed the spraying of all cart path gardens and boundary gardens on course. Once again, a couple of gusty days put a stop to any herbicide applications due to spray drift. The next stage going forward with these gardens will be to brush cut the entire area before applying a preventative residual herbicide. This should give at least 3 months protection against weed germination. Certain garden areas on course will also be covered with mulch.

Greens have  received a foliar fertilizer application with the addition of a growth regulator for the first time since renovations. They are recovering nicely with lots of new growth, but we don’t want that growth to become extreme resulting in “puffy greens”. We also applied Thumper and Prophesy, which are two registered miticides as part of our preventative program. The rollers have also made their long-awaited debut after renovations, which is another great sign we are tracking along nicely.

The 3rd fairway first cut at 20mm

We have put the mower across the 3rd fairway for the first time since receiving its aeration, top-dress and fertilizer. We opted for the front deck rough cutter set at a height of 20mm for the initial cut. This is obviously a lot higher than fairway height but, in my opinion, a very good starting point.

See you on course.

Last Chance to Donate

With Christmas fast approaching, there are just a few days left to support children spending Christmas in hospital through the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation’s Tree of Giving Appeal.

Our Christmas tree is proudly displayed in the clubhouse and is ready to be filled with gifts from our generous Links community. If you’d like to donate, please place a wrapped present under the tree and label it with the appropriate age and gender. Gift ideas can be found in the GCHF Toy Donation Guidelines.

As we prepare to celebrate with our own families, a small act of generosity can bring comfort, joy and a little Christmas magic to a child who needs it most.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated to this appeal.

Members Giving Back

We are incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our Links community this year, with members coming together to raise funds in memory of a much-loved member, Angela Craig, as well as in support of several important charities.

Through a series of raffles held throughout the year, our members raised an outstanding $3,115, with donations made to the following organisations:

  • Cancer Council – $505 raised in memory of Angela Craig

  • Serving Our People – $775 raised through the Mid-Year Raffle

  • Garvan Institute – $980 raised in memory of Angela Craig

  • OzHarvest – $855 raised through the End of Year Christmas Raffle

Thank you to everyone who donated, purchased raffle tickets, or helped organise these efforts — your generosity truly makes a difference.
