Update from the Course

We have continued with the cart path tidy between the 2nd and 8th holes with all unwanted trees, shrubs, vines, and weeds removed making cart travel a lot clearer and safer whist also improving the visual splendour of both holes.

On Monday our newly qualified greenkeepers Ben and Nathan started the week with an early fairway foliar spray. In the brew was” NFE” which is a liquid iron and manganese formulation designed to correct iron deficiencies, maintain plant growth and enhance turf colour. This is the perfect formulation to apply to fairways on a monthly basis over Winter. The second ingredient was “Barricade” a pre-emergent herbicide used to prevent the germination of weeds such as Crows foot, Winter grass, and Paspalum. Barricade is part of our pre-emergent rotation programme and will give up to 6 months residual effect.

Answer to the question……. There are approximately 1894 sprinkler heads on course………That’s a lot of trimming!

Links Honey Now Available at the Front Desk

Your honey has been delivered to the front desk and is now available for purchase. 

There are 50 bottled jars from this month’s extraction along with a 10kg bucket of honey which we can use to refill any of your old, cleaned honey jars. 

This is a limited seasonal supply, and once it’s gone, that’s it for a while! As the cooler weather sets in, our busy bees are taking a well-earned rest—just like the grass on the course, their activity slows down during the winter months. We won’t see another harvest until conditions warm up again in spring.

So if you’d like to stock up on this delicious, locally harvested honey, be sure to stop by soon!

Membership Renewal Payments Due

New Car Park Now Open

We’re pleased to announce that the new car park is now open and ready for use.

Located on the left-hand side as you cross the bridge into the club, the new parking area provides additional spaces to those in the underground car park.  Overflow parking is still available on the grass behind the 9th tee.

Course Care Reminders

A friendly reminder to all members to please repair your pitch marks on the greens and rake bunkers properly after use.

Unrepaired pitch marks can damage the turf, create uneven putting surfaces, and take weeks to heal. A quick repair helps keep the greens smooth and fair for everyone.

Likewise, neatly raking bunkers after play ensures other golfers aren’t left with poor lies or footprints to deal with. For instructions on how to do this, Links Golf & Wellbeing Course Superintendent, Glen Beauclerc has put together a quick "how to guide" on efficiently and correctly raking a bunker. 

These simple actions go a long way in keeping our course in top condition. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our club in the best condition for everyone.

Men's Pennant Series - Round 1 Recap

Links Golf  & Wellbeing travelled to Coolangatta/Tweed last Monday for the opening match of the Pennant series against RACV Pines. Despite a soggy start, the team pulled together strongly once the skies cleared to secure a narrow but well-earned 3½ to 2½ victory.

A win by Mark Quinn, and solid performances from Roger Worms and Michiel Hofmeier, and Adam Baker’s square match sealing the overall result. Greg Shipton and Richard Byrne were competitive throughout but narrowly missed out.
