Chook Run Series

Summer Chook Run

Kick off your weekends with the new Summer Chook Run Series. This fun and social 9-hole event is perfect for members and guests to enjoy a relaxed round of golf during the summer evenings.

Tee off each Friday at 3:00pm (Shotgun Start), from January 10th through to February 21st.

There is a $10 competition fee for members and

guests. Guests must also pay the member's 9-hole guest rate of $60.

As added incentive, we'll also be extending the member only Happy Hour from 5:00-7:00pm for those that miss out on the earlier time due to being on course.  At the completion of each week's event a presentation will take place, great prizes to be won and some finger food will be served. Presentation will take place immediately after golf at approximately 5:15/5:30 pm on Fairway Terrace.

Also, to keep you coming back again and again there'll be an eclectic competition with the major prize awarded after play on February 21st.

Bookings open in MiClub 15 days in advance at 1:30 pm. For more information and to book contact the Golf Shop on (07) 5530 9030 or book online.

Blue Cart Directional Signage and Lines.

Please remember to adhere to the new Blue Cart Directional Signs and Lines recently instated on course.  Since the introduction of the Visage 4 GPS system in September, we have been able to keep club carts well away from putting greens and surrounds, however we are still noticing too much cart wear close to greens.  The purpose of the blue lines is to make it absolutely clear where carts can be driven, the direction they are driven in and how far carts are to remain from surrounds and putting surfaces, so please, adhere to the direction of the arrows on the signs and do not cross the blue lines when driving a cart on course.  Staff will be policing this and in addition, we ask the lowest marker in each group to take responsibility for ensuring all members of the group adhere to the rule.  Please play your part in allowing us to deliver the quality of playing surface we all want to see.

UPDATE - Golf Carts: By-Law 16.3 (g) Two Cart Policy

We appreciate the cooperation members have shown with respect to the cart policy since the course re-opened after renovation in late November.  The renovation has been a success, golf course playing surfaces are recovering nicely and we look forward to seeing continuous improvement in the months ahead.  Whilst we recognise the uniqueness of the Hope Island lifestyle our primary objective is to deliver sustained improvement on the golf course, and we continue to encourage members to share carts on an ongoing basis.  However, commencing Boxing Day for the remainder of the summer season, we will allow the use of individual private carts on the basis of adhering to the 90-degree rule at all times.  This privilege may be revoked at any time dependent upon cart wear, weather conditions, the quality of playing surfaces and the general adherence to cart rules and directional signage (especially the Blue Lines).  We ask the lowest marker in each group to ensure all players adhere to the 90-degree rule and cart rules in general.

Golf Australia Player's Personal Liability Insurance Policy

Members who are a part of Golf Australia's newsletter database will have received a communication regarding insurance Thursday 19th January.  This communication outlined changes to the Player's Personal Liability Insurance Policy that will come into effect 1st March 2025.  This is the policy a part of your membership affiliation fees contributes toward.  Due to the increase in insurance costs and the escalating number of claims on a national basis specific exclusions have been added for any claim, loss, damage, liability or costs and expenses incurred directly or indirectly in connection with third party property damage to:

  •  Golf Carts, and
  • Personal electronic devices including phone, iPad, watch, rangefinder, or anything similar.
There will also be a $1,000 excess for any property damage where a golfer is found to have acted in a negligent manner and caused damage to a third-party property.

In the new year, as more advice becomes available, we will communicate further updates and any impact it may have on our members in the lead up to 1st March 2025.

Congratulations Mason!

What a terrific few days Mason Palumbo has had! Despite the weather, he played four impressive rounds at the Greg Norman Qualifying Event. With rounds of 82, 77, and 81, he made it to the final day, tied in 11th place, and was determined to win Nett in his age division. In the final round, he shot 77, finishing 8th gross and taking home the Nett Winner trophy in his division as well as finishing as the Nett Runner-Up overall!

This year has been a huge year for Mason, from finishing 7th in the Junior World Stars in Las Vegas to competing at Pinehurst USA. Despite some tough challenges he always pushed through and came out on top.  We're proud of Mason's hard work and impressive results and we can't wait to see what's next for this talented young golfer!
