Easter Opening Hours

Links Golf & Wellbeing will be trading as normal over the Easter Long Weekend, including Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Alcohol Sales on Good Friday

On Good Friday, we can sell and supply liquor from 10am to midnight, but only with a meal, in a part of the premises ordinarily set aside for dining.  The meal must be prepared, served, and eaten on the premises. Patrons can purchase alcohol to drink with their meal from 1 hour prior to 1 hour after eating their meal.
(Note: under the Act a meal is defined as food that can be eaten with cutlery while seated, it is not light takeaway food like sandwiches, snacks, hot chips, an entree, or children's meal.)

We are also unable to sell takeaway alcohol or alcohol from the refreshment cart and golf shop on Good Friday.

N.B. a 15% Surcharge applies to all Food & Beverage at Links, due to the Easter Public Holidays, from Friday 18th - Monday 21st April.

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter.
The Team at Links Golf & Wellbeing

Update from the Course

Still fighting with the man upstairs regarding the weather. It seems every time we want to dust greens; he always makes sure it's raining! We managed to dust and rub in all greens on Monday in amongst the showers and the 10mm of rain. The greens were still a bit sandy by smoko time, so the boys went out and rubbed them in again. All in all, they've come up well and will roll true.

We are still trying to stay on top of the weeds throughout the tee stations. On Friday we targeted the Crows foot once again and applied 6 tanks of Metric on all tees and surrounds to eradicate this weed. Like all herbicide programmes we will follow up with another application in 7-10 days.

Unfortunately, the weather halted the aeration of the 3rd fairway. On two occasions this week we have attempted to start this project but once again the man upstairs said no....... here's two days of rain instead! As soon as we get a few days of sunshine we will be out punching holes on the 3rd.

We have started to shape the new tees on the 15th hole. The material used for the construction of these tees was the bunker sand removed from the greenside traps. We are trying to have the tees both on this hole and the 18th hole solid turfed before winter.

What's the Buzz

Once again, our hives are thriving and surprising us every time we do an inspection. Prior to cyclone Alfred crossing the coast we completed a hive inspection, before strapping the hives down for the weather that was to come. At this inspection with only 40% of the frames full of honey I thought that our next extraction wouldn't be until the spring. What honey was in the frames would be enough surplus to get the bees through the winter with plenty of room in the hive and plenty of reserves stored in the cells in case of harsh weather.

Much to our shock we had to complete an emergency extraction last Friday with all 18 frames in both hives 110% full. Yes, unfortunately the extra 10% they once again decided to free form and build in the roof. We extracted 28 frames in total, leaving plenty of honey in the hive for winter and plenty of honey now bottled and ready for sale today just in time for Easter............and who doesn't like honey on hot cross buns!

Please see Chris at the front desk for any honey purchases and don't forget if you want to bring back your cleaned old jars I will be able to refill them for you as well.

Charlie

Meet the Team Behind Links

Meet Charlie from our Golf Services team, who’s been with us at Links Golf & Wellbeing for nearly two years.

Originally from England, Charlie moved to the Gold Coast as a child and found his way into golf while working at Palm Meadows during school. It was around that time he started playing, and he hasn’t looked back since. Drawn to the quality of the club and the chance to be surrounded by golf every day, Charlie says the best part of his role is the camaraderie within the Golf Services team—he’s made great friends and often plays rounds with his teammates after work.

A typical day sees him working mornings and hitting the course in the afternoon. Outside of golf, Charlie plays soccer for Surfers Paradise and has a passion for sport in general. His top pick from the Golf Shop? The Taylormade Qi10 35 Driver. He lives by the motto: “A bad day on the golf course is still better than a good day at work,” and if he could have any superpower, it’d be teleportation so he could travel the world—something that’s high on his bucket list too.

Charlie brings positive energy, a love for the game, and a great team spirit. You will often find him on the consierge desk in a morning so don't forget to say hi when you are dropping your clubs off next.

Friendly Reminders:

Requirement To Check in Prior To Play

A big thank you to all members who take the time to do the right thing and check in with the golf shop team before heading out on course - we really appreciate it!

However, we've noticed some players still making their way straight to the tee without checking in. To ensure everyone has the best experience on the course, we kindly remind all members to stop by the golf shop first.

Checking in prior to play allows us to manage the tee effectively, inform you of any important updates, such as course conditions, special notices, or other helpful information for your round.

Thank you for your cooperation.

No BYO Alcohol on Course

Just a friendly reminder that, as per By-Law 17.2 (d), bringing your own alcohol onto the golf course is not permitted.  Glass bottles of any description are also not permitted on the golf course at any time.

Our Special Facility liquor license encompasses the clubhouse and entire golf course property.  As such any alcohol must be purchased through our facilities and served by staff who hold a valid RSA. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Use of Range Balls on Course

All players are advised that the removal of range balls / range baskets from the driving range is not permitted.

Range balls are provided to our membership base as part of your membership category to be used solely on the driving range / chipping green.

It has been bought to our attention that players are using the range balls on course, in particular from the 9th tee in both social and competition play to avoid losing your own golf ball.

Our range balls are limited flight and do not comply with the rules of golf and therefore anybody found to be using a range ball in competition play will be disqualified.

If members are caught removing range balls or using them on course, they will also face disciplinary action.

Thank you for your understanding.
