Easter Rosebowl 2026 Registrations Now Open 

Solar Lighting Installation 

This week, our Facility Maintenance Executive, Matt Commens, and team member Matt Gould will be mixing and pouring concrete to create pads for the new solar bollard lighting. These lights will be installed along the pathway leading to the overflow carpark on the staging lawn.

Once completed, the upgraded lighting will ensure patrons can exit the carpark safely when daylight is limited, while also providing a far more attractive guide than the temporary witches’ hats currently in place.

From the Course...

Everything is growing...including the weeds!

December will be the month of various weed eradication programs. With the recent regular rainfall and hot humid days, the weed population throughout the course has exploded on all playing surfaces, gardens and boundary fencelines. We have now doubled our herbicide tanks for use on course gardens, meaning we should cover a lot more areas quicker and more efficiently. All gardens, on course, parallel to cart paths and neighboring fencelines will be continually sprayed with a combination of Round up and pre-emergent herbicides.

The tees and tee surrounds have already received the first application of “Javelin” a selective herbicide registered for the eradication of broadleaf weeds in couch. The fairways have had the first of three applications of MSMA and 24D which will target both grass and flat weeds. Once we have completed all three applications we will then continue will our scheduled pre-emergent herbicide program.

The fairways have received an aeration through vertical slicing. This resurrected machine does an outstanding job slicing through the top 50mm of the profile creating minimum disturbance to the turf. As with all aeration, this machine lessens compaction and provides a void for better oxygen exchange in the profile.

The third fairway has received a much-needed renovation in an attempt to promote new healthy turf on this hole since its inception. We tried to aerate this fairway ourselves after completing all greens and tees but as you can see from the photo our tines only lasted a run of 50m before we aborted the mission. Thankfully through a local contractor we were able to aerate the fairway with the use of a machine called an Aerovator. This machine comprises of vibrating solid tines penetrating into the hard pan layer we are trying to grow turf in some 100mm. We applied 400kg of organic matter, gypsum, dolomite and sand to the surface prior to the Aerovator being used.

The area has been roped off and will remain so for at least a month with a temporary par 3 now in play. Believe me when I say we are trying everything to resurrect this section of the fairway. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.

Members' Summer Chook Returns This Friday

Starting this Friday, December 5th, the Summer Chook Run series begins. 

Join us every Friday over summer (no competition on Boxing Day) for a relaxed 9-hole Ambrose with a 3 pm shotgun start, followed by light nibbles and presentations.

It’s the perfect way to end the week. We can’t wait to see you out there!
