Cart Speed Reminder

A friendly reminder to all members / guests to keep cart speeds to a safe level, particularly when carts on paths only conditions are in place. We've noticed an increase in the speed of private carts around the course & clubhouse area, which raises safety concerns for fellow players, other cart users and course staff. Fast-moving carts can also cause damage to the cart path edges and surrounding green space. 

Please take extra care and drive at a controlled pace when using the cart paths around the golf course & clubhouse. Your cooperation helps keep the course safe, enjoyable, and in great condition for everyone.

The penalty area relief options on hole 9 if your golf ball enters have been updated.

Great Win by the Super Seniors

Playing on your home course is a great advantage but you still have to get the job done. The team came together brilliantly and had a great 6 nil victory against Boomerang Farm.

The 4BBB teams of Shippo, Terry and Clive and Richie started the wins, followed by the individual matches with Patto, Roger, Trevor and John Allwood finishing the job.

Thanks to all the supporters for coming out.

Final series game next Monday against Southport at Palm Meadows, a win should put us in the finals.

All is in readiness for this year’s club championships with round one and two commencing this weekend. Good luck to all players, here’s hoping the best golfer comes out on top!

The weeks preparation has been faultless with the greens being dusted on Monday, rubbed in and 10mm of irrigation applied that night to wash the sand in. Greens have been cut and rolled each day since and will also be cut and rolled the morning of all four rounds of the championships. On Wednesday they received a foliar fert of Greensmax and Iron Carb which will promote growth and enhance their colour. A final deep irrigation on Wednesday night and they should roll and present well come the weekend.

All tees were given a foliar fertiliser on Tuesday to define our magnificent square tee boxes. In the brew we also applied a product called Thumper which is used to control couch mite which is starting to appear in several playing surfaces. Couch mites feed at the base of the leaf, injecting toxins into the grass that cause stunted, bunched growth, leading to yellowing off and eventually die back of the turf. Our spray programme requires 3 applications over a 5-week period to break up the breeding cycle of the mite. This programme has already taken place on both greens and tees.

The fairways look terrific and are mowing up a treat. We cut them twice this week despite the 220 plus golfers playing every day, making the challenge that little bit harder. There’s a full coverage of grass and with more divots being filled in everyday after the repair hole sign was introduced there’s no excuse for a bad lie. Just to be sure we’ve spent a few days with the white paint circling and marking any bare areas as GUR just to take away any discrepancies.
