For the record 234
golf balls were found in and around this much despised grass. Some of the balls
were of the same age as the course. If you recognise any of yours in the
bucket, come and see the boys at the maintenance shed……………...we’re open to all
offers!!
This week the maintenance team also completed a full bunker make
over with the vertical faces edged, horizontal faces brush cut, all runners
removed, before a final blow, broom and rake ensuring all bunker bases were
level. As a general rule of thumb most golfers rake bunkers from the face back
to the entrance they walked in, so as greenkeepers we always rake the opposite
direction from the entrance back to the face to keep the sand level throughout
the trap. 120 man-hours later the bunkers look a treat, and the team are very
satisfied with their work. At this stage I would ask if you could please take
your time in raking all bunkers so they are left in the best possible condition
for the group behind you. Saturday’s competition is off the black tees for men as part
of the multi tee competition. After recent tree works around the tees on holes
2, 4, 9, 16 and 17 we will be utilising the permanent black tee locations on
these holes giving you the golfer an opportunity to play the course at its
maximum length. Measuring a comfortable 6492m it’s a day not
for the faint hearted but for the grip it and rip it mentality. See you on course, Glenn Beauclerc. Your Friendly Course Superintendent |
